In Spirit of the Holidays

This time of the year is known for its "holiday spirit" and there are two main reasons why I do not like
this time of year. But before I indulge in why I dislike November - December of every year, I want to
say that I have nothing against Christmas or any of the other religious holidays around this time period.
And let me tell you one more thing, its not because I am not part of the religious groups that have
festivities during this time.
1. I dislike what the holiday time has come to be. Everyone is engrossed in the gift giving and receiving.
Businesses have made it a commercial tactic to suck out all the money from your pocket. "Give the give of
love, with a $2000 diamond necklace!" screams the ads. The stores are fast to show you gift-able items

At work, listening to my Mp3 player, I was busy trying to figure out an error I kept on getting. Then
this song started playing.
I had to stop. You know the feeling when a song relates to you completely? That's what had happened. I
wasn't sure why at first. But then again many things remind me of what was .. six months ago .. without
reason. I was in a relationship and things didn't work out. I try not to talk/think about it but I
unconsciously get reminded of memories together (good and bad) and there really is nothing I can do to
make it go away. These memories are part of me, a good part of my past, but nonetheless its the past.
Its hard to move on when you invest so much into something.
After listening to a few times and analyzing the lyrics .. it says a lot reasons why many
relationships don't work out: taking each other for granted, lack of communication, not investing
time and effort. I don't think I am trying to make a point. Its just a thought that occurred to
me and I had to write it down.
