In Spirit of the Holidays

This time of the year is known for its "holiday spirit" and there are two main reasons why I do not like
this time of year. But before I indulge in why I dislike November - December of every year, I want to
say that I have nothing against Christmas or any of the other religious holidays around this time period.
And let me tell you one more thing, its not because I am not part of the religious groups that have
festivities during this time.
1. I dislike what the holiday time has come to be. Everyone is engrossed in the gift giving and receiving.
Businesses have made it a commercial tactic to suck out all the money from your pocket. "Give the gift of
love, with a $2000 diamond necklace!" screams the ads. The stores are fast to show you gift-able items
that are worth your money. Wish lists are posted everywhere. Demands are made to those we love and
expectations are manufactured of who will bring me the best gift. Is that what Christmas is about?
2. Everyone is asking for donations to help the needy and poor. But I think that if we as people who are
well off in this world should be donating, it shouldn't only be once a year. I don't like the fact that
people are only supposed to be helpful and giving ONLY during the holiday seasons. There is so much
emphasis on donations and help that is needed around the area of which ever city a person lives in, but
the person will hear about it for one month out of the year. I'm not saying there is anything wrong
in asking for donations at this time, just we as people should be giving, ALL year around rather than
once every year. If you are more well off than someone that has nothing, HELP them a little, give them
a boost, and hopefully soon enough even they will be well off and then turnaround and help someone
else that is in need.
I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that have many things to say about this. If you do, e-mail me.
I'm not fancy in setting up blogs and what not but I'll post up what ever you gots. :) ~*~
