Reaching for the Sky
Updated:02:17 PM ET December 16, 2005
By Anjori Sinha

I turn around to see, but it is all a big blur.
My head spins, sending me stumbling ahead.
In this short journey, I have acquired so many bruises
That the pain inside has become numb.
Those whom I leaned on, like grass swaying in the wind.
Those whom I tried to bend, stiff like trees.

Now, my legs tremble, afraid to take another step.
I too used to be one of those trees,
Now, my growing limbs, gone, mercilessly broken into pieces.
I gather myself, only to fall again.
But branches will grow, and clouds will give way, letting in light.
And only then will I win against life.
