Name Game

A name defines how we are. Some cultures say it defines what you are in life and how un-/successful
you are as well.
Nevertheless, it is something you get attached to. I certainly did with mine. I loved my name
and how it sounds. I have seen it on all my papers and my degrees as well. I have signed it 100
times over. Yet the simple act of getting married stripped me of my name. No, I was not forced to
change it, but I always planned to when I got married (I'm sure he perferrs it this way).
But something feels different. I get a sour-sweet taste in my mouth.
After standing in line for hours to change my name, it feels weird to look at it, say it, and hear
myself being called by my new name.. As if I erased a part of me; the part that has been
around for a long, long time. But on the other hand, I feel connected to my husband as if we are
truly one.
Anyone else feel this way after getting married? ~*~
Miracles Really Do Happen

I played the name game one fine tenth day in August. I drove over to the Social Security Office to
sit in line for two hours. I recieved my letter and headed off to the DMV.
When I got there, I had to stand outside the DMV for about 40 minutes, just to get in. Then I sat
for another 30 waiting my turn. When I was about 2 or 3 from being called, they annouced that the
computer system went down and they weren't issuing any more licenses that day.
What? I've been sitting and standing hear just to go home empty handed?! NO WAY! I wanted my turn
and I wanted my license today!
When called, the guy looked over the form as if nothing happened and then said that he couldn't do
anything for me that day as the system was down. I asked him if he could just take my application
and submit it after it comes back up. Of course that was a no .. I started to think of something more
to ask, a few more seconds and the system might come up.
And then I thought to myself .. wait a minute, who am I kidding, nothing like that happens to me EVER!
I was putting all my paper work in my folder to head out and the lady at the next booth says "the
system is back up again!" What? Miracles do really happen?! Yes, apparently they do. And I was back in
business. I got my license that day. :) ~*~

I just wanted to specifically thank the four best friends a girl could ask for, my
bridesmaids. I know for a fact that all of preparations and planning could not have
been done without them.

I thank the four of you from the bottom of my heart. ~*~
Married!

We're married! It's going to be close to a month now in a few days. I can't believe
it all happened so fast. The day of the wedding, so many things were looking to not be
in our favor but it all turned out.
2. Jenn and I were late arriving to the venue, which meant we were falling behind in
the setup. Just in time, Veronique (BM) with her sister, Florence, and husband, Yann,
showed up. Shortly after my soon to be husband also showed up and pitched in as soon
as he got there and things got done in time and beautifully.
1. I had strep throat starting the weekend prior and pretty much all week leading up to
the day. I was thankful to talk to my friend, Erin, early on in the week. She suggested I
go to the doc as it sounded like strep .. and she was right. I was going to hold out on the
doctor (don't like'em much, even though I wanted to be one), but boy am I glad I did go. The
day of, I had enough antibiotics in me to keep me running all day.
3. An hour before everything was supposed to start, we couldn't get in touch with the
cake guy. We thought he forgot or something. Two and a half hours later, he still was not
heard from. However, he showed up right as the cocktail began. He even did what he said
he couldn't do. Which was to bring in blank cakes and have the chef decorate right there
and then as entertainment for the guests. The chef gathered quite a crowd.
4. It was scheduled to rain that day. It had rained all week, and I mean all week. It
looked like it was going to rain that day as well at times. Thankfully, it didn't.
Instead we had a cool summer breeze during the ceremony to cool down the hot day.
To put a long story short, it was a great day! :) Thanks to all for coming! ~*~
